    I don't work in the movie industry. Never did. But I know that with all the people who work on a movie set, trust in another person's duties is what makes a great team. I agree with Mr. Baldwin that this was out of his control. He was handed a cold pistol and it wasn't. The person who is to blame is undoubtedly the armorer. She made a very serious mistake and in the end, a person was killed, by accident.

  • @Annie497-f5x
    @Annie497-f5x 2 місяці тому

    Anyone handling a gun should ASSUME it's loaded until they check it and recheck it. That way, these "accidents" don't happen. The gun was not properly secured on the set, for sure. Live ammunition was there, which is inexcusable. And every person who took possession of that weapon must assume it's dangerous until checking to make sure nothing has found it's way into the chambers or barrel. That is the reason guns, knives, any weapons should face the ground. This was sloppy and careless and he owns a big chunk of causing her death and wounding the other person. When he said "I assumed the gun was clear" is admitting he f'k up. He now needs to man up and take responsibility. He pointed it and pulled the trigger and killed someone.

    Alec Baldwin is a fool to go public with an interview like this. Everything he says here can be thrown back at him in a future criminal trial and or civil action. As much as it hurts he should say nothing and remain silent.

    This recently is back in the news (I didn't watch the trial or updates). I recall hearing a 'rumor' that stagehands used the guns between takes to target practice out in the desert. Wonders, if true, was it mentioned during any court processes. If true, I would think that would be important, especially if the actors were not aware of those activities.

    Never assume a gun is empty. Maybe if you hadn't spent so much time trashing NRA members, and instead taken an NRA class, you'd know that every gun is loaded. Your ignorance is not an excuse of your criminal culpability.

    Er.... An 'exercise' / script of "woe-is-me", "dindu-nuffin"... 98% irrelevance, 2% deflection of critical-questions... "The gun just 'went-off' / didn't pull trigger / cocked-hammer, let it go & gun went-off"... How??? Theres now plenty of footage of him 'rehersing' by cocking-hammer, then de-cocking Under-Control by depressing trigger and keeping thumb on hammer. Whats most likely? He thought he had a 'cold-gun', he's a martinet, he rehersed then pulled trigger releasing hammer & 'bang'.... It was probably avoidable if the muzzle had been pointed just to side & NOT directly at persons... ....but this is a classic example of ego & cost-cutting... ....followed by arse-covering....

Did he think the rest of the Hollywood industry would cover his ass on that?! He is revolting!! I don’t know why no ken had figured this out yet. If he really didn’t pull the trigger the gun went off from him releasing the hammer. Even if you only have the hammer pulled back a quarter of the way right before you get to the first click, if you release it all at one sometimes it can generate enough force to strike the firing on hard enough and fire the round. The hammer doesn’t have to be pulled all the way back and released for the round to go off.

    I used to work on film sets in the US and Ireland. The Armourer/Weapons Master was always fully responsible for firearms. Period. I know a lot of gun and military people are saying Baldwin should have checked the weapon. I don't doubt that it's standard practice amongst gun owners... But we never do. That's the Armorer's job. As Actor's we aren't trusted with weapons! The Armorer gives you a talk on weapon safety. He/she then explains the shot (scene) along with the Director. And only hands you the weapon just before the take. The Armorer watches you like a hawk during the take. And takes the weapon back into charge once the shot is finished. The same when being squibbed (electric charges with fake blood pouches) when your character is shot. The special effects people were in charge of that and briefed us in detail before the shot. Everyone on the set has a specific role. At least that's how it should be! I have to say even on low budget productions the Armorer's always knew their stuff. And weren't laid back Kids! I never saw one under thirty. Most were middle aged. They made you very aware that firearms weren't like regular props. It looks like they hired this daughter of an Armorer on the cheap. I'm hoping her Dad is/was more professional. She doesn't even seem sure who had guns at a given time. Anyway I'm speculating. But as much as people want to blame Baldwin (some because they don't like the Guy) he did nothing wrong on the day. I know if I opened the gun to check it I would expect to be reprimanded by the Armorer and/or Director. It just isn't our job. They might be able to use the Producer angle to hold Baldwin responsible in some way. I don't know I'm not a Lawyer. But that depends if he was really involved in producing. Sometimes Stars get a Producer credit. But it's just an honorary title. I kind feel a little sorry for the Armorer. She doesn't come across as someone who should have been given so much responsibility. Running errands would have been a better start for her.
